01The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of niftyworksheets.com and any worksheets, lesson plans, or other materials we publish on it (collectively, the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site. We won't be offended.
"We," "us," and "Nifty Worksheets" mean the independent team behind this site, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. "You" means whoever's reading this. Most likely a teacher, parent, tutor, librarian, or student.
02Your license to use
Every worksheet, illustration, and lesson plan on this site is copyrighted material. We grant you a free, non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to use them for personal, classroom, and other non-commercial educational purposes.
"Non-commercial educational" is broad on purpose. It covers:
- Public, private, charter, parochial, and home schools.
- Tutoring sessions, including paid one-on-one tutoring, where the worksheet is a tool you use, not a product you charge for.
- Libraries, after-school programs, summer camps, and community education.
- Parents and guardians using sheets with their own children.
- Therapists, occupational therapists, and special-education providers in their practice.
03What you can & can't do
Some of the rules below sound finicky, but they exist because we're a small team and we rely on people finding us at the source.
✓ You can
- Download and print as many copies as you need for your students or family.
- Edit a worksheet for accessibility (larger type, dyslexic-friendly fonts, translation).
- Share a link to a worksheet's page on niftyworksheets.com with anyone.
- Project a worksheet on a classroom screen or smartboard.
- Mention us on your blog, in a newsletter, or in a teacher Facebook group. We love that.
✕ You can't
- Resell our worksheets (for example, listing them on Teachers Pay Teachers or Etsy).
- Repost the PDF files on your own website, app, blog, or learning platform.
- Remove our footer credit ("niftyworksheets.com") or watermark from a sheet.
- Use our worksheets to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine-learning models.
- Use our name, logo, or "Nifty Worksheets"-branded marks to imply we endorse your product or service.
If you want to do something not covered above (bulk-licensing for a district, including a worksheet in a textbook, translating sheets for a publisher), write to hello@niftyworksheets.com. We're usually happy to say yes; we just want to know about it.
04Submitted worksheets
If you submit a worksheet to us through our contributor program, here's how that works:
- You keep the copyright. We don't take ownership of your work.
- You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to publish, distribute, and modify the worksheet on Nifty Worksheets and in our newsletter.
- You confirm that the work is yours (or that you have the right to license it) and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's copyright.
- If we publish your worksheet, we'll credit you on the sheet itself and on its page, and we'll send a $40 honorarium per accepted sheet.
- You can withdraw a submitted worksheet at any time by emailing us. We'll remove it within 14 days.
We curate carefully. We don't publish everything submitted, and we may copy-edit or redesign accepted sheets to fit our house style. We'll always show you the edits before publishing.
05Use by minors
Worksheets are made for kids, but the website itself is intended for adults: teachers, parents, and tutors who choose materials. If you're under 13, please use the Site with a parent or teacher's supervision. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
06Accuracy & "as is"
We try hard to make every worksheet accurate, age-appropriate, and aligned to recognized standards (Common Core, NGSS, state frameworks where noted). Two former classroom teachers review every sheet before it goes live.
That said: we're human, and the Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. If you spot a typo, a math error, or a factual mistake, please tell us and we'll fix it, usually within a day.
07Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Nifty Worksheets and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or its materials. Our total liability for any claim related to the Site is capped at USD $50 or the amount you've paid us in the previous twelve months, whichever is greater. Since the Site is free, that almost always means $50.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that can't be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct).
08Changes to these terms
If we change these Terms in a material way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days before the change takes effect. We won't apply changes retroactively to materials you've already downloaded. Once you have a PDF, the license you had when you downloaded it stays in effect for that copy.
09Contact & disputes
Have a question about these Terms, or a concern about how something is being used?
- Email: hello@niftyworksheets.com
- For copyright takedown notices: legal@niftyworksheets.com
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Before filing any formal claim, please write to us. We promise to read it, and the vast majority of issues get resolved over a single email exchange.
Thanks for reading the fine print.
Most "terms of service" pages exist to make a company's lawyer feel safer. We tried to write one that explains how we'd actually like people to use the worksheets, and what would frustrate us if it happened. If anything here feels unfair or confusing, write us and tell us. We'll listen.
Signed, Rosa, Jamie, Devon, Priya, and the rest of the Nifty Worksheets team.
